Wendy Goad

Known for her comfortable, yet refined California style, Wendy Goad is the principal owner of Thrive Interiors & Design. Wendy has assembled an amazing team that prides themselves in creating unique, customized spaces that combine traditional and modern pieces with less refined elements such as reclaimed wood, raw metals and vintage linens.  Her designs are influenced by these natural, earthy textures and provide an eclectic mix embracing the natural beauty of coastal California.

Although she is a Southern California native and influenced by seaside life, Wendy spent 10 years in Texas which inevitably sneaks into her design aesthetic.  To her it doesn’t matter if it’s driftwood or barnwood, they both have soul, character and stories to tell.  She describes herself as a Coastal Bohemian Cowgirl and if you come into the shop, don’t be surprised to hear her signing a country tune.

Wendy oversees every project with a hands-on approach and works towards each client’s personal definition of what their goals are for their space. Are their children in the home? Grandchildren? 4-legged friends? Is entertaining important?  She spends a lot of time making sure that the client’s priorities are met in her designs while creating beautiful spaces that are timeless and really enhance the client’s lifestyle and wishes. Wendy believes a home should be a place where memories are made and where families can function in everyday living, all while being beautiful.

Wondering where Wendy got the name for Thrive Interiors & Design? She’d been racking her brain for months and then literally a magazine in the grocery store checkout line caught her eye.  It featured an article about “thriving” in the New Year. It just seemed right.  First she was “Spinning” then “Curating” and now it is time to “Thrive.”  With the store now opened, she is thrilled to embrace the beginning of this new meaningful journey.

In addition to running a busy, growing firm, Wendy’s number one team is her family.  She has been married 25 years to her husband Brian who always supports her and comes to our rescue.  He’s the best IT director, handyman, and overall fix it guru at the Thrive Hive.  With both kids off to college, she and Brian have retired from weekend soccer and baseball games and now spend their time going to the movies, playing golf, eating out with friends and sneaking up to Paso Robles to relax as often as possible.  Wendy says her daughter Danielle and her son Justin both got her husband’s smarts and her creativity.  Danielle studies Integrated Technology and Packaging at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and Justin is up north at UC Davis proving he can conquer the Civil and Environmental Engineering Program.  She’s one blessed and proud momma.

QUIRKS AND CONFESSIONS

Some Saturday’s the PJ’s never come off and Wendy binge watches way too many TV shows.

All of those fabulous finds in the garage are not a hording problem; they are just too wonderful to get rid of!

Her favorite time of the day is early morning before anyone else gets up.  She’s a happy girl curled up in a chair with her cup of coffee.  Wendy’s mottos is “First I do coffee, then I do things.”

Running late is Wendy’s exercise!
